ROY, WA — Polo. Yes, we are that cultured. The Tacoma Polo Club field is located 6.5 miles south of the Roy-Y in Spanaway at 29128 8th Ave S., Roy, WA. A small, non- descript gate and a dirt road lead you in to the club house where you will see trailers and horses tied up awaiting their chance to play.
The Summer outdoor season is beginning this weekend May 17 and 18. Starting time is 1 p.m.
Tacoma Polo Club All practices and tournaments are open to the public. No entry fee for practices. They team up with local non-profits and have benefits for the tournaments. The entry fee is usually $5.
The UW Equestrian Club is coming to Tacoma Polo for an intro clinic Saturday May 17. They could use help tacking horses, mounting riders and helping them learn to hit the ball.
It’s not too late to join in the fun this Saturday at the Intro to Polo Clinic. Contact instructor Claudia Howell at polozealot@gmail.com to sign-up. Clinic start time is 10 a.m. With a big group, they’ll split them up and rotate them through foot mallet, hitting cage and mounted drills.
