IMG_2807DammeierFRANKLIN PIERCE — Every year, school districts throughout Pierce County nominate leaders in their community for the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Region 111 Community Leadership Award. This year, Franklin Pierce Schools chose to honor Senator Bruce Dammeier.

Senator Dammeier was chosen for his extensive background serving in roles that are focused on supporting the education of K-12 students, advocating for public education, fostering and maintaining a close working relationship with school district administrators, promoting the Legislature’s fulfillment of Washington State’s paramount duty (Article IX, Section 1 of the Washington State Constitution reads, “It is the paramount duty of the state to make ample provision for the education of all children living within its borders…”), and for his efforts to speak with education professionals when education policies are being proposed and debated in the Legislature.

Congratulations, Senator Dammeier!
