1ST Special Forces Group (Airborne) to hold 30th anniversary of unit reactivation ceremony
Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.—The 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) will hold a 30-year anniversary ceremony for the reactivation of the Group on September 4, 3 p.m. at the 1st SFG (A) “Coleman” compound by the unit memorial wall.
Col. Otto K. Liller will speak at the memorial wall, followed by a social event at the Regimental Mess
Alpha Company, 1st Battalion was reactivated at Fort Bragg on March 15, 1984. Alpha Company and the remainder of 1st Battalion were assembled and deployed to Torii Station, Okinawa during the spring and summer of 1984. 2nd and 3rd Battalion, along with Headquarters and Service Company were officially reactivated September 4, 1984 at then-Fort Lewis, Washington.
