GCAT’s next meeting will be on the 1st Thursday of Oct. instead of the last Thurs. of Sept. because the Dept of Natural Resources (DNR) will be presenting the Kapowsin Lake Aquatic Reserve plan at Kapowsin Elementary at 6:30 pm in the multipurpose room. This proposal will protect the lake’s native ecosystems, raise the profile of this area and allow for greater public access. Hope you will come and join us on Oct. 2.
Our reading director, Paula, is facing surgery and will not be able to pull things together for the Tuesday program at Graham Elementary each week after school for 1.5 hours. Helping 1st-3rd graders read can be a life changing experience for both the reader and the volunteer. Might you be able to volunteer for this vital project or know of someone who would be able to contribute to our community in this way?
And finally, G-KCC’s fall fundraiser is the Harvest Dance at the Elk Plain Grange on Friday Oct. 17th from 7-11 pm. Cost is only $5 or $8 per couple! The fundraising committee is looking for a food cart or concessions so send ’em our way if you know of anyone looking for a gig that night.
