In about 3 days Spanaway Safeway becomes Haggens officially. The Albertsons/Safeway merger was approved which means we bid farewell to our local Safeway store and Safeway merges under the operation of Albertsons. The Safeway banner remains, but it will be run by the company and hedge fund that owns Albertsons.
Editor Note: This will affect all the local Safeways, Graham, Canyon Rd, etc.

It is my understanding that the Summit Safeway at 116th & Canyon will remain a Safeway, but the Albertsons at 112th will become Haggen. That’s what the Summit Albertson employees are saying. – Judy Highton
