I miss “Doing the Puyallup!” But it hasn’t been the Puyallup Fair ever, we just called it that locally. From its inception as a gathering of valley farmers who wanted to compare who had the best and biggest crops and share a potluck to the spectacle of concerts, rides, contests and vendors that it is today, wow! It runs September 1 -24, closed Tuesdays and Wednesday, Sept. 6. (Days & hours below story)

If you buy your tickets in advance online, you can save a little on ticket prices. Weekends cost more than weekdays too. Season passes are also available. Parking will cost you also whether you choose to park in a lot or fund a Fair neighbor selling a place on their lawn.

• Friday, Sept. 1 – KOMO’s Opening Day Food Drive – FREE gate admission for all ages 10:30am – 12:30pm, with a suggested non-perishable food donation. Full Details
