Scandinavian Christmas celebrations Dec 6, 10

The Scandinavian Cultural Center (SCC) at PLU will be hosting their annual Scandinavian Christmas Celebrations soon.

On December 6, 2023, there will be a Christmas Service in Norwegian language. The Julegudstjeneste will begin at 7 p.m. in the University Center downstairs room 100. There will be Norwegian treats and coffee after the service.

On December 10, the Swedish Sankta Lucia Celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. The candidates for the scholarship will arrive and the one chosen as Sankta Lucia wins a scholarship from the SCC. They will be dressed in white and the Lucia will have the traditional Crown of Candles (electric) on her/his head with a red sash. Saffron buns and cookies will be served after this event. There will be dancing around the Christmas tree and children dressed as tomte. The Jule Tomte will also make an appearance. He looks a lot like Santa Claus, just Swedish.
