Clover Creek and Spanaway Lake resister the first day or so, but now that this weather has been dipping below 15 degrees F for several days, the north part of Spanaway Lake, known as the cove is starting to freeze. It is truly thin ice that no one can stand on, but it has frozen more than a third of the cove. Over by the park, it has not frozen, and the south side of the island to the south end of the lake has not frozen either.

The ducks are near, but avoiding the ice. The cormorants; they clustered on a dock, just not having any part of that cold stuff.

The cold is still around Monday night. The county has warming centers, locally that’s at the Parkland Transit Center Park & Ride. It will not get much warmer, meaning above freezing, until Wednesday.
Clover Creek has frozen water right now as well.

Wishing you power and gas that stays flowing and a warm place to stay.
