In a planning meeting March 29, Al Schmauder, the chair of the Clover Creek Council, agreed to accept nominations for the Council to elect new officers. Al is long retired and spends several months a year at his retreat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The organizers of the new Clover Creek Restoration Action Alliance are joining forces with the Clover Creek Council to continue its work in the community.

On April 4th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Parkland Spanaway Library meeting room, the Council will meet and offer the formal nominations and election of officers. The missions are similar, so they will join forces with the 501(c)(3) status of The Clover Creek Council to continue to monitor and work to restore the condition of Clover Creek. The nominating committee has offered Sean Arent for President, Ward Rogers for Vice President, Marianne Lincoln, for Secretary, and Diedre Conant for Treasurer.

With all the Comprehensive Plan changes being heard at the Planning Commission this week, the Council will be involved advocating for protections of the creek from degradation caused by development too close to the creek and other human damage.

On April 20, the group is planning an event to caravan to locations around the creek and inspect conditions that summer projects can help to rectify.

Grants from the City of Lakewood and the Chamber Clover Creek Council are open in April. The group will decide on which projects might be worthy of proposing for grant funding.
