Spanaway Concerned Citizens are offering tours to interested local citizens to see where in the watershed the County Executive’s Office has proposed to make this tiny home “Pierce County Village” available to single homeless people with addiction and mental health issues.
You will see huge second growth fir trees, a large wetland, and several groves of endangered Garry Oak trees. Once you see it, you can prepare to comment at the hearings starting April 29th at Sprinker Recreation Center’s Rainier Room (upstairs).
Here is the information they posted on the tours.
We are meeting at the end of 176th where it turns into Spanaway Loop Road. Wasmund Road starts where 176th ends.
Because of the great response and requests for more tour dates, we are offering tours on Saturday, April 13th, Saturday, April 20th and Saturday April 27th. Tours will start at noon AND another at 1:00 on each of these 3 Saturdays.
You might want to bring binoculars AND a camera. The property is so beautiful!
Please join us this Saturday at 12:00 or 1:00 for a walking tour of the Village site. The guided walking tour will travel down Wasmund Road, a public right of way. It can be a little muddy because it’s WETLANDS, so wear appropriate footwear. Bring your camera…maybe one of you will get the much needed photo of the Western Gray Squirrel!
Look for our festive canopy where we will be selling T-shirts and
collecting donations for attorney fees while protesting this Village. Come and grab a sign or bring a sign of your own. We have less than 3 weeks before the Hearing Examiner meeting at Sprinker on April 29th at 9:00am where you can testify in person. We ask that all testimonies be emailed to the Hearing Examiner. Ideas for testimonies and all of the details and instructions are on our website: https://spanawayconcernedcitizens.com/
Come & join our protest each Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00, with walking tours at noon and 1:00.
[Editor: You can also sign up for their mailing list there to keep abreast of how their opposition is going.]
TOGETHER WE CAN STOP THE VILLAGE!

These two groups might be a great way to get the word out to many more people. I donât know how all this technology works So this is the best way I knew how to send what I thought might help stop this homeless Village.
