Advanced Air Mobility for new eVTOL craft

on

The era of George Jetson is beginning to arrive. The Federal Aviation Administration is starting discussion with states and local communities about how to safely bring these vehicles, Vertical Take Off and Landing (eVTOL) to our communities. We need to consider where they will land, a new invention called the Vertiport will need locations. Advance Air Mobility (AAM) will require a lot of planning and zoning.

Several states have started programs, significantly Texas, Ohio and Florida, where aviation has played a large role in development of their states. A workforce of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) students will be necessary to make this happen. The new careers need to be planned at high schools and universities. Cities, Counties and States need to look at development regulations and zoning to control where these vehicles will be allowed to operate. Air Space, Air Traffic Control, will need to make changes to operations to keep the air and ground safe as the operations begin.

Connections between airports and ground transportation systems will be important and require that we think ahead for this to happen. The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) will have to also be considered. There are many environmental impacts to this technology.

This video link is an excellent early conversation of these issues. Watch and begin thinking about how these integrations can begin to happen. At the end, they said to reach out to your FAA Regional Administrator as you begin to plan for this new reality.

Above are a few screen shots from the video discussion. They are just a teaser to make you start thinking about where this will all take us. It will certainly make a difference to employment of the future.
