Wednesday was the holiday Juneteenth, but it was also the regular meeting day for the Graham Business Association. They meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7 a.m. at the Mazatlán Mexican Restaurant on Meridian, 10302 198th St E, Graham, WA 98338.

The meeting was opened by President Denise Longo and a prayer from Loretta Fulk. It was a few days after the end of school, so the attendance was down by most of the school employees that usually participate. Everyone present introduced themselves, told about their business, and mentioned upcoming events.

Social media cannot substitute for the experience of meeting each other firsthand and talking about plans for the community. This kind of networking is truly the best kind. Since I have not been to GBA in over 5 years, I was treated as a first-time guest and my breakfast was free. Members get free breakfast as well. Nonmembers pay $20, so plan to join if you are going to come back regularly.

The group heard from people representing the Pierce County Fair, the Highland Games (coming this weekend!), Harvest House, Pierce County Refuse, the Graham Library, Graham Kapowsin Community Council, Graham Fire, the Pierce County Council, and more. https://grahambusinessassoc.org/directory-of-members
