Daffodils choosing and planting in the Fall

Fall is the time you plant those beautiful flowers for Spring, the daffodils and tulips. Fall is also the time all our local high schools choose their Daffodil Court members!

The Daffodil Festival events for choosing “Princesses,” “Royalty,” or “Court Members” are now listed on their events calendar site. The events are held at each high school, and you will notice some new names there for high schools. Our area is growing! My guess is one day soon, we may see some diversity in the court itself. Whether the Festival is ready for diverse royalty on the court is anyone’s guess, but one day it will happen.

So the lineup of events for choosing the Court is as follows:

Sept 24 – Orting, Oct 3 – Sumner, Oct 8 – Bonney Lake, October 9 – Bethel, Oct 10 – Puyallup, Nov 6 – Franklin Pierce, Oct 15 – Mt. Tahoma, Oct 1 – Chief Leschi, Oct 17 – Rogers, Oct 22 – Eatonville, Oct 23 – Curtis, Oct 24 – Harrison Prep, Oct 28 – Spanaway Lake, Oct 29 – Silas, Oct 30 – Lakes, Nov 5 – Graham Kapowsin, Nov 6 – Franklin Pierce, Nov 7 – White River, Nov 12 – Stadium, Nov 13 – Emerald Ridge,
Nov 13 – Foss, Nov 14 – Fife, Nov 19 – Clover Park, Nov 20 – Washington, Nov 21 – Lincoln.

Princesses can receive sponsorships. if you can help your Royalty afford the costs of events and costuming, there are contributions that can be made to them through the Festival website.

The Daffodil Festival is a non-profit and it does need community support to keep going. Donations to the Festival can be made here. You can also become a Daffodilian. If you are crafty, each school district needs volunteers to build their float for the parade too!
