Cliff Maas, former UW professor of meteorology says the low-pressure system forming offshore is reminiscent of 1962’s Columbus Day storm. Winds will possibly reach hurricane force, especially in coastal areas. You can read his blog here. This will impact Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia.
The lowlands in Seattle, Tacoma, will have less wind. The National Weather Service says Tuesday night winds will gust to 30mph. There is also a prediction of snow to 1000 ft elevation. Best to cross the pass earlier in the day or wait a day.
