Start your New Year at Graham Senior Center

Retirement is not a good time to hide out in your home. Every human needs and deserves a little social time with good friends old and new. It has been shown to actually increase your life span. If you are in Graham, Thrift, Kapowsin, or Benston, here is a suggestion.

Carol Wright of the Graham Kapowsin Community Council (GKCC) recognized the need for Seniors to gather in the rural Graham and Kapowsin areas. She spearheaded a movement to create these gatherings for seniors over three years ago.

At first, they used Frontier Park on Tuesday and Thursdays, but the park use fees were a difficult obstacle to cover. Then an opportunity came to use the former Benston Grange, now Benston Hall on Wednesdays. Now the Evergreen Church has stepped up to provide their church space for the Tuesday and Thursday gatherings. All the dates provide lunch if you call at least 24 hours in advance to request the meal.

The groups Graham Kapowsin Senior Center is also on Facebook. If you have access to Facebook, you can see them reading The Night Before Christmas on pajama day, decorating a tree, doing chair yoga, enjoying great cooking, and many more fun activities for the Baby Boomer generation.
