Bryan Yambe is appointed to replace Marty Campbell in Council District #5

Around 5:45 p.m. on January 14, 2025, the Pierce County Council took a second executive session and returned to vote in Bryan Yambe, a Fife City Council member to fill the seat vacated by Marty Campbell’s election the Pierce County Assessor Treasurer.

Yambe has been on the Fife City Council since November 2013. He has also represented Pierce County cities on the Regional Council, Puget Sound Regional Council Economic Development District Board,
Pierce County Cities & Towns Association, a Tribal Liaison, Tideflats Subarea Steering Committee (alternate), and the Tacoma-Pierce County Board of Health (alternate).

Congratulations Council Member Yambe!

Following that CM Denson moved a slate of officers for the 2025 Council, elected were Jani Hitchen, Council Chair, Paul Herrera Vice Chair, and Robyn Denson as Executive Pro Tempore.

The photo below is when CM Dave Morell slid the gavel over to Chair Hitchen. Congratulations to the new officers!

Still trying to figure out what qualifies this guy for any public office. Reading his resume his most referenced items are a couple classes at Highline CC and a couple workshops in high school with impressive names but dedicated to training people how to win elections. Describing himself as some kind of community leader he didn’t even register to vote until he was 26 years old, just before being appointed to Fife City Council. His ads brag about his role in the Pipeline Trail project, which he had absolutely nothing to do with other than gladhanding at the completion ceremony. He abandoned his constituents in Fife halfway through his term for a better paying government position. Contacting him during his brief tenure looking for help with District 5 issues I either got no responses or was told he would ‘reach out’ to someone, only to hear no more. Big mistake voting for someone looking to make a career living off the public dole.

I have met him and he is very personable. Qualifications for office are often minimal, such as be a registered voter in the right district within a certain time limit before the election.
On the other hand, if your opponent is a person who doesn’t play well with others, perhaps being a kind person is enough.

Being a kind person is an admirable trait. However, it takes more to be an effective representative of the people. It takes someone who is willing to step up and look after the interests of your constituents and the environment. How is he looking after the interests of his constituents in Fife that elected him 2 years ago to a 4 year term? He abandoned them after two years to accept another government position he wasn’t elected to.
