The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has a team of young men and women in their congregations that come from six different parishes to work on cleaning up the old Spanaway Cemeteries on 176th & A Street. This year that cleanup will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on May 21, 2025.
Other local churches ad service groups are welcome to come and assist. If you can bring wheelbarrows, clippers, gloves, weed whackers, leaf blowers, and other yard work tools, you are certainly welcome to do so.
In years past, this cleanup has made a significant shift in appearance of the cemetery prior to the events of Memorial Day.

Also this year, the group plans to return September 11 to do an additional cleanup before Winter sets in.
The contact for this year’s cleanup is Hardy Awadjie, Assistant Communications Director, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Graham, Washington Stake.
Here are some photos from 2024.
