Passing through! Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic July 12

on

Each year the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic called the STP cruises through Summit, Waller, and Spanaway mostly between 6:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. This year that will be on Saturday, July 12, 2025. They stop over at Spanaway Middle School to restock, rest, potty, get some food, sun lotion, water, air for their tires, or maybe even a repair. It operates 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you are driving that morning, please be cautious around all the bicycles; maybe even take a different route if you can.

The bicycles leave Seattle around 5 a.m. Some that are more independent leave earlier. The 45 miles to Spanaway will not take them very long.

The route includes 72nd Street to Waller Road, to Military Road (160th). Please be careful at the 4-way stop on Military and 22nd Avenue! Then they turn at Thompson Elementary to come in the back side of Spanaway Middle School, but some will also cruise to B Street, Safeway, and Albertsons. They exit Spanaway on Military Road toward Spanaway Loop, then on toward the end of McChord Field to take the back road into Roy. [SR507 occasionally sees a bicycle, but there were too many accidents along Pacific Ave. and SR507 in the past, so that portion was abandoned.]

Be safe! Have a great time!
