On August 16, Sprinker Recreation Center is holding another Junk in the Trunk event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. a fun and innovative twist on the classic garage sale! This is the perfect opportunity to sell your items from the back of your vehicle and browse through a variety of treasures all in one place. Bring your unique finds, and we’ll bring the eager shoppers!

August 16, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Walking tour of 1843 Fort Nisqually site in Dupont. A 1.5 hour tour including history and lives of Fort Nisqually inhabitants. Wear sturdy shoes and prepare for the weather. Park at the Dupont City Hall, 1700 Civic Drive, Dupont, WA.
August 16 & 17, Dupont BBQ Cookoff, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 1401 Palisade Blvd, DuPont, WA.
On August 17, Broke Bucket’s VW SummerJam is at Marymount Event Center from 11:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. All European Car Show. Cost is $10 General admission (Kids under 14 FREE, online or in person).
August 18 (1-2pm) & August 20 (6-7pm), Healthy Cooking Classes at Sprinker Recreation Center hosted by the Parkland Spanaway Blue Zones Project.
August 18-22, Dog Days of Summer Scavenger Hunt at Cross Park in Frederickson. It’s the end of summer and our furry friends have been spotted lounging all over Cross Park and the Naches Trail Preserve. Come and see if you can find them all! Take a stroll through Cross Park and the Naches Trail Preserve, searching for our four-legged companions and answering short questions about the signs you see. To participate in the scavenger hunt, download or grab the Hunt Form at the Frederickson Community Center located inside Cross Park. Return completed forms to the center Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Limit of one prize per person. Please note: The Naches Trail Preserve features scavenger hunt signs of furry friends only. Unfortunately, real pets are not allowed inside the preserve.
August 24, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., There’s Still Another Car Show, at Griot’s Garage, Sponsored by Bethel 27 Job’s Daughters of Washington. Location is 3333 S 38th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409. $20 registration before August 20, for people showing their car.
August 25 (1-2pm) & August 26 (6-7pm), Line Dancing with Friends, at Sprinker Recreation Center hosted by the Parkland Spanaway Blue Zones Project.
August 30, LeMay Annual Show, The LeMay Annual Show is a unique event! See hundreds of collector vehicles in two locations: the Marymount Event Center and the LeMay Private Garages, also featuring a vintage doll collection, automobilia, vintage signs, and gas pumps. Local classic car owners are also encouraged to bring their own vehicles to display on the show fields of Marymount. Between the LeMay Collection and show cars brought in by local owners, you can see over 1,000 classic vehicles, food trucks, commercial and private specialty vendors. General Admission: Free to the public, Private Garages: $20.00 ($25.00 Day of)
The Washington State Fair runs from Aug. 29 to Sept. 21 at the fairgrounds in Puyallup. Find more information on their site.
