Watershed Roundup Nov 18

Pierce County has four state designated watersheds. The Chambers Clover Watershed (WRIA12) includes Lakewood, University Place, most of Tacoma, Dupont, Spanaway, Parkland, Frederickson, Midland, Elk Plain, and the northwest part of Graham.

This watershed is dependent on rain. For the past three years, the area has been under drought conditions. In October, it was at 54% of normal rainfall for the year. Clover Creek and some of Chambers has been dry for months. With salmon returning upstream to spawn, this is far less than ideal.

Come out to the Watershed Roundup and learn about organizations that are trying to improve the watershed after 192 years of damaging alterations and developments.

On Tuesday, November 18th from 3:30-5:30pm, the Chambers-Clover Creek Watershed Council is hosting a Watershed Round Up Stewardship Open House event.  The purpose of this event is to share information about and celebrate stewardship and educational projects happening in our watershed.  The Open House will be held at the Pierce County Skills Center Rainier Building, 16117 Canyon Rd. The work of many local organizations in the watershed will be represented at this event. We will have tables with displays and materials (poster board, photos, flyers, etc.) about educational, stewardship, and current conditions of water bodies and wildlife in the watershed.
