Pierce County Council Chambers relocating to new Administrative Building in downtown Tacoma

After more than six decades at the County-City Building, the Pierce County Council and its chambers will relocate to the new Pierce County Administrative Building at 1501 Market Street in Tacoma, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the county’s legislative branch. Pierce County’s legislative body—first as the Board of Commissioners and later the Pierce County Council—has held its regular business at the County-City Building since it opened in 1959. This release marks the final press announcement from 930 Tacoma Avenue South for the Pierce County Council.

The first official business of the Council in the new location will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, with a Rules & Operations Committee meeting. The Council Chambers at 1501 Market Street are located on the first floor of the building, with Council offices on the fifth floor. Members of the public will continue to have remote participation options in addition to in-person attendance. Meeting agendas and additional information are available on the Pierce County Council website.
