In our area, there is “A Place for Me.” It is a Resource Center for Individuals with Down Syndrome, located at 1918 112th Street East, Tacoma WA 98445. It is across 112th Street from Franklin Pierce High School.
Their purpose is to provide supports and resources to the Down syndrome community and their families and friends. It is a free registration and there is no fee to attend. All funding is currently completed through fundraising during the Buddy Walk.
321 Buddy is their support and fundraising site. 321 Buddy is a non-profit organization that provides ongoing support and events for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. Proceeds from events in 2026 will support The Opportunity Circle (an adult day program for individuals with special needs), A Place for Me (a free resource center for individuals with Down syndrome, and their families), in addition to providing events and activities for the Down syndrome community in Pierce County.
The Opportunity Circle is a day program for adults with I/DD. It creates a safe space where they can feel seen, supported, and empowered. It’s where education ignites potential, employment opens doors, life skills build confidence, and human connection fuels purpose. Here, dreams aren’t just spoken — they’re nurtured, shared, and brought to life, together. FIRST QUARTER OF SESSIONS ON MARCH 30, 2026
To all the delightful people who have Downs Syndrome, their family and friends – have a wonderful day March 21! Here is a big hug for you all. Here is a video about A Place for Me. And here is a story in the Tacoma Daily Index.
