Pierce County is home to a rich variety of cultural, historical, and social narratives, spanning from Native American heritage to the achievements of veterans, civic leaders, and other individuals or groups who have played significant roles in shaping the character of our community. Road names can serve as meaningful markers of identity, and honor our communities’ history and legacy.
Pierce County accepts nominations for honorary and historic road names in order to honor local tribes, individuals, groups, and cultural landmarks. The intent of this program is to foster community pride, reflect Pierce County’s diverse history, and promote a shared cultural heritage among residents and visitors.
