Spring has sprung and the season is busy with Earth Day events, and also Spring cleaning. Pierce County has an answer to some of that Spring cleaning. They have shredding events.

Safe Streets is a go to for a landfill pass. If you have stuff that needs to go to the dump and you cannot afford it, check with them. Neighborhood Meeting–Parkland, at Trinity Lutheran Church (map) on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 6:30 PM  8:00 PM.

Pierce County offers free paper shredding events throughout the county. Attendees can shred up to three shopping bags of paper at each event.

Only shred portions of documents with sensitive information. For example, an entire banking statement does not need to be shredded—just the sections with account numbers. Remember that information like names, addresses, and birthdays are usually already available online and are not high priority for shredding.

All shred events are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until the truck is full.
