The Post is offering this information to better prepare you to decide who to elect to Congress in the 8th and 10th Congressional Districts. There are debates taking place that you may attend. Last Tuesday, Karen Porterfield (D) and Congressman Dave Reichert (R-WA) candidates for the 8th Congressional District, spent an evening in Wenatchee debating. The Wenatchee World and KOHO radio hosted the debate.

Ms. Porterfield has invited Representative Reichert to another debate, this one on the west side of the Cascades, where 81% of the people in the district live. We do not yet know if he will agree to continue the conversation from Wenatchee.
If you did not have a chance to see the debate, here is a link to the full debate on the Wenatchee World’s web site .

10th Congressional District candidates Denny Heck and Dick Muri will appear for a 7 p.m. forum October 11 at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. The League of Women Voters’ of Thurston County will moderate. The event is co-sponsored by The Olympian. Thurston Community Television is taping the event for later airing.
Civic group Lakewood United plans a Thursday, Oct. 25, debate between 10th Congressional District candidates Denny Heck (D) and Dick Muri (R). The event is at Burs Restaurant in Lakewood and starts at 7 a.m.
Lakewood United is nonpartisan and the event is open to the general public. It will be a debate that uses written questions submitted to a local municipal court judge for vetting.
A joint appearance of Muri and Heck is fairly rare. They were both on a radio program on KUOW in August. There is also an upcoming forum airing on KCTS 9 on Oct. 22.
