District Elections Notice:
The Pierce Conservation District will conduct a “by-mail” election on Thursday, February 21, 2013 for a position on its Board of Supervisors. District Supervisors serve in volunteer, unpaid positions for three year terms. Their primary duties are to provide policy, fiscal and administrative oversight for the District, and to represent the District in its relationships with other entities. Election law is detailed in Chapter 89.08 RCW, along with the responsibilities for District… Supervisors and Conservation Districts in general.
Elected Position: The person in this position serves on the Pierce Conservation District Board from 2013 until 2016. The position is currently filled by Sheila Wynn of Tacoma. You must reside within District boundaries to be a candidate for this position. Candidates wishing to have their name on the ballot for this position must file a nomination petition with the Pierce Conservation District or the Washington State Conservation Commission. Candidate Information and Nomination petitions must be delivered to the District no later than 4pm January 24, 2013.

Appointed Position: The person in this position serves on the Pierce Conservation District Board from 2013 until 2016. The position is currently filled by Ernie Bay of Puyallup. You must reside within District boundaries to be a candidate for this position. Candidates wishing to be considered for this position must file an application with the Washington State Conservation Commission. Applications must be delivered to the Commission no later than 4pm on March 29th, 2013.

Voting in Conservation District “By-Mail” Elections: The Pierce Conservation District uses the “by-mail” election process. There are two methods for participating in the District election:
• In Person: You may appear in person at the Evergreen State College-Tacoma Campus; 1210 6th Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98405; between 4pm and 8pm on Thursday, February 21, 2013, and vote in person. You will be required to show identification to verify that you are a qualified voter. To be considered qualified you must be a registered voter who resides within District boundaries.

This year’s annual meeting will take place on Thursday, February 21, from 5-8 p.m. at the Evergreen State College campus in Tacoma. Event highlights will include a small reception, guest speaker, a review of this year’s accomplishments, and an awards ceremony to honor our volunteers and partners. Please contact us by February 15 to reserve your space.***
• By Mail: You can request a ballot to be mailed to you by providing your name, mailing address, residential address, and legal signature to the District Elections Officer (listed below). To have your ballot counted you must be a registered voter who resides within District boundaries. Ballots must be requested by 4pm Thursday, January 31, 2013, to be placed upon the list to receive “by-mail” ballots for the 2013 election.
