Comment on the Spanaway Post Office entrance

on

This is the entrance to the Spanaway Post Office off Pacific Avenue. It is a tight right turn that you have to slow down significantly to execute. On one side there is a deep ditch that is almost always full of water. On the other side, it is easy to hit the curb if you are turning too fast. In fact, most of the curb is missing now.

Tell us what you think of this situation. Should the Washington State Department of Transportation be requested to come out and fix this engineering leftover from the sidewalk project?

I drive by this post office everyday, can’t even to count the number of times somebody car was high centered in the ditch because they turned to tight. Almost every clips the curve to get in there its needs to be Fixed Fixed Fixed please!

Agreed. This is a nasty curve to navigate, especially in a mid-sized car or pickup. Not sure if County or USPS is reso=onisible for the fix. County will deny, delay or defer action, go to the Council member for that distict – get it on record.

  3. To drive into the entrance is also only possible when you are driving on Pacific Ave. in the north direction. Why not relocating the entrance to the 168th. St. where the exit is now. The exit could be either on Pacific or beside the entrance. Much easier access and less frustration.

That makes sense, but Pierce County would take three years and a million dollars to make a change like that.

This definitely needs engineering agin by someone with common sense and not just a degree.nitbis a huge hazard. I got hit backing out of a space here because someone turned in too fast trying not to get hit themselves on Pacific Ave.
