Water – good until the last drop or no one to turn on the pump

on

Glenn Mattison is running for Kapowsin Water Commisioner. He has been the incumbent in that position since 1984, so he knows his stuff. At age 86, he’d like to retire. But like several other rural water districts in the county, no one wants the job. EIGHT rural water districts in Pierce County had no one file for office.

The Pierce County Auditor has opened a special 3-day candidate filing period June 5-7, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. State law requires a reopening of the filing period when no one files for a position during the regular filing period.

What will these communities do when there is no one there to make sure the water pumps are  running? Here are the communities looking for commissioners:

Ashford Water District – Commissioner Position 1

Burnett Water District – Commissioner Positions 2 and 3

Clear Lake Water District – Commissioner Position 2

Elbe Water District – Commissioner Positions 2 and 3

Elkhorn Water District – Commissioner Positions 1, 2 and 3

Kopachuck Ridge Estates Water District – Commissioner Positions 1, 2 and 3

McKenna Water District – Commissioner Position 2

Valley Water District – Commissioner Position 3

And one more thing… Thank you Glenn Mattison for all your years of dedication to the community of Kapowsin, keeping their water running and insuring it is healthy. Glenn is also a dedicated member of Trout Unlimited, an organization that helps insure the water is good and the regulations reasonable for all of you who are out there fishing instead. You have been a great public servant Mr. Mattison!
