SPANAWAY, WA — Starting Friday afternoon, you may start hearing the roar of the Tacoma Inboard Racing Association boats on Spanaway Lake.
This year, the site is more than just racing, it is the Inboard Summer Nationals. This is a BIG event for the area. Expect there to be a considerable amount of traffic through the park over the weekend and don’t think you will successfully sleep in Sunday if you live on the lake.
Entrance to the park is $3 per car. It’s free if you can walk in. The gate is staffed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Tacoma Inboard Racing Association has a web page with some information, but the most current information appears to be on their Facebook page.
From the Tacoma Inboard Racing Association: “This is a Tacoma Inboard Racing Association event, that will be at Spanaway Lake this coming weekend, Sept. 7-8. We were very lucky to be the winning bid for this race that will also be the 2013 Summer Nationals for Inboard Hydroplanes, including classes of 1 liter hydros, 2.5 Stock, 2.5 Modifieds, 5 liter, National Mods, Grand Prix, Super Stock Flatbottoms, Pro Stock Flats, K Racing Runabout Flats, Sportsman Entry Flats. Entry into the race is free (after park entrance fee) and pit passes are available for purchase at $10 for non-APBA members. “
