SPANAWAY, WA — The next Eastside AUSA chapter meeting is Wednesday, September 18. They meet the third Wednesday of every month at JR’s Whistle Stop at 224th and the Mountain Highway (SR7) in Elk Plain. (You will find them on the calendar on the right hand column of our home page.)
The group is presently planning for the Triple Nickel Welcome Home Celebration November 19 that will be held at Sprinker Recreation Center. They will be out in the community seeking corporate sponsors and participation from all sorts of entertainers, food vendors and those who might provide donations to help this welcome home party for the 555th Engineering Brigade a really big whoop-de-do from the east side of the base. There will be almost 1500 men, women and children to entertain at the event.
As Greg Hollman put it, “You say you want to support the troops, here’s y our chance. It’s right in your own back yard.”
Other organizations are encouraged to send a representative to the planning meetings and participate in getting to know and work with the military members with whom we are associated. The 555th, or Triple Nickel has helped out with many projects in the city of Roy and may be available to assist other projects in the Parkland, Spanaway, Graham, Elk Plain and Frederickson areas as well. Come out and get to know them. Those meetings are October 16, 6 p.m. at JR’s Whistle Stop and October 30, 6 p.m. at Sprinker Recreations Center.
