Eastside AUSA to host Welcome Home Party for JBLM’s 555th

SPANAWAY, WA — A Welcome Home  Celebration for the Triple Nickel’s (555th Engineering Battalion) will be held on Tuesday, November 19th from noon to 4p.m. at the Harry Sprinker Recreation Center, 14824 C St. South, Tacoma, WA.

This event will welcome up to 1800 soldiers and their families to celebrate the unit’s return from deployment. It is being organized by the Eastside Sub-chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), a private, non-profit group formed to  provide recreational and educational opportunities to soldiers and their families. This is the first major event for the newly formed Eastside Sub-Chapter which includes the communities of Parkland, Spanaway, Frederickson, Elk Plain, Graham and Roy.Featured in the event are the Seattle Sea Gals and Rainier’s Rhubarb. The troops and their families will also be treated to ice skating, bouncy houses, basketball, face painting, tennis, wood crafts, Kettle corn, family photos, pizza, soda, water, music with a DJ, balloon animals, Wii Dance Revolution, ice cream carts, and a variety of new automobiles and sports vehicles on display.Major sponsors for the event include AUSA, Titus Chevrolet, Larson Motorsports, USAA, Harborstone Credit Union, America’s Credit Union, University of Phoenix, DeVry, and Community One Financial.

As the Eastside Sub-chapter President, Greg Hollman put it, “You say you want to support the troops, here’s your chance. It’s right in your own back yard.”

Other local supporters include Walmart, Umpqua Bank, Little Caesar’s, Starbucks, Kern’s Automotive, Parkland Spanaway Rotary, 723 Networking, Costco, Pacific Lutheran University, Mountain Mist, DL Anderson Insurance, Pierce County Parks and Recreation, Bethel School District, Spanaway Community Association’s Pierce Prairie Post, Spanaway Lake High’s Music Company, Home Depot, and Northwest Scooter.

The Spanaway Lake High School Music Company will be featured singing the National Anthem around 12:45 p.m. The event will take place in rooms all over the entire Sprinker Recreation building, upstairs and down. Welcome back to the 555th!
