BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT – – The 20th annual Technology and Art Fair took place at Spanaway Lake High School last weekend. The event showcased the work our students are doing throughout the school district.
For some families, pairing art and technology is the perfect blend that puts the spotlight on all of their kids at the same time. Al Haro said, “My high schooler has a computer game that she’s invented that they’re running demos on, and then my little ones have some artwork this year.”
The artwork is a big draw and Bethel’s director of arts and curriculum integration, Mike Sandner loves seeing it all together in one room. “It is exciting to see all the student work. To see it progress from kindergarteners all the way through high school. It’s exciting to watch that progression of quality over the years.”
Also on display was technology currently used in classrooms around the district, from tablets to smart boards. Marilyn McGee says her son Caleb loves the technology, “I think it’s great. The kids are all into technology nowadays so it’s a great learning device and they love to be hands-on.”
There was also a demonstration of what a Blended Learning classroom looks like, as well as the annual technology competition. This year Spanaway Elementary and Spanaway Lake High School took home the top prizes in their categories.
