On Tuesday, February 11, The Washington State Superintendent of Public instruction Randy Dorn visited the Franklin Pierce School District during their school board meeting to present the School Board with an award indicating the selection of
Franklin Pierce High School as a STEM Lighthouse recipient. FPHS won the STEM Lighthouse award of $18,000 for being an exemplary example of how STEM is being taught at the high school level. As part of the grant, FPHS will be required to help other schools in other districts integrate STEM into their courses. The board meeting was held at the Jo Anne Matson Administrative
Complex (315 129th St S). OSPI has not yet sent out a press release concerning this year’s STEM Lighthouse recipients.
Beginning at 8:00 p.m., members of the Franklin Pierce Citizens for Schools, School Board, District Administration, FPEA (teacher’s union) Council, and community gathered in the same location to view election results for their Propositions.
The preliminary results show both propositions passing:
Franklin Pierce SD No. 402 – Prop. 1
Yes 3,139 58.51%
No 2,226 41.49%
Franklin Pierce SD No. 402 – Prop. 2
Yes 3,284 61.21%
No 2,081 38.79%
