SPANAWAY, WA — The new and improved intersection at B Street and 176th Street is now open in Spanaway. The north-south portion on B street through the intersection and the west side at 176th opened. On the east section from B Street to about 7th Avenue, the asphalt was still too hot for driving. It is anticipated to be open around 6 pm.

As I walked over to the Road Closed sign, the public works people began to remove the sign, then realized they still needed to flip the switch to turn the traffic signal back on, causing the drivers to wait a few moments longer.

As the first couple of cars crossed the intersection, cheers could be heard from drivers with their windows open in the warm sunny weather.
