On Thursday December 18, the Franklin Pierce School District turn out to celebrate the opening of the new Commons building at Keithly Middle School. The building includes a multi purpose area, cafeteria, stage, music room and central kitchen space to prepare meals for all the elementary schools in the district.

The building was part of the 2012 capital levy. The levy also included money for classroom modernizations in elementary and secondary schools, energy efficiency upgrades and a cafeteria upgrade at Ford Middle School which is scheduled for the summer of 2015.

The school district has also invited district citizens to turn out fo meeting to plan the vision for the district facilities, FPS 2030. The first meeting will be January 20 at 6 p.m. in the Keithley Commons, 12324 12th Ave. S.
