Dear Council Members, staff and residents of Roy,
After six years as mayor and four as council member, I am submitting this letter to officially confirm my resignation, effective this summer on June 30, 2015. For family reasons, I will be relocating to Tennessee.
It has been my privilege and honor to serve the city of Roy. Through thick and thin, we have worked together for the good of this community. I have appreciated the hard work my staff has contributed to meeting each and every challenge.
I will leave the city thankful for a dedicated staff whose hearts understand what it means to serve the citizens, to council members who strive to make the best decisions acceptable to required laws, to those citizens who step up and volunteer to assist in improving our community, and to those who served in the past and took time to mentor me. You have all been a blessing in my life.
To the leadership and soldiers of The Triple Nickel, I applaud your commitment to serve our country and thank you for partnering with the City. May safety envelop you as you serve.
Thank you for your support of this decision, for your vision for this city, and for your friendship over the years.
Karen E. Yates
