Come out to PLU-owned reDesign house any number of times this summer. We’ll be installing glass bottle edging to the garden beds, weeding and tending to the annuals, and any number of other projects to get the house ready for an event in July (http://wahesc.org)
Address: 515 125th St. S., Parkland 98444 Day/Time: Every Wednesday from now until July 8, 4:30-6pm Contact: sustain@plu.edu
We planned for these workparties in the cooler part of the day, not too long, and powered by organic smoothies featuring Parkland-grown (perhaps even PLU-grown) fruits when available. reDesign House is the demonstration site for the PLU Sustainability Office. The yard and gardens are a partially installed permaculture-designed landscape and host site to last year’s Permaculture Design Course. The house boasts Solatube lighting, Lotus biomimicry paint, a collection of sustainability books, and more. The yard currently has fruit tree guilds, water cistern, fungi logs, and bird & bee houses. Partially completed are a graywater area, pond, flower gardens, and more.
