Was it a whim? Was it flighty? Whatever it was, I realized it was time to get out of town for a couple days and give my spirit a little boost. The ferry schedules to the San Juan Islands are a bit complex. If took half a day to figure out when to leave, how to make a reservation, how and when to get to the other islands.

I decided to sail to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island first. That decision was made when I found I could still get a great rate at Roche Harbor in the Hotel De Haro.
