Our Savior Lutheran Church Receives Support from the Community That It Serves

Tacoma, WA, December 7, 2016    It has been almost two weeks since the devastating fires in the worship center and lobby at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Since that Black Friday morning when the church was set ablaze, the church has made significant headway in the recovery process. Clean-up is underway, rebuilding will follow soon thereafter, and the church has a new ‘temporary’ home at Ford Middle School. The school is in the Franklin Pierce School District and located just about one mile west of the church.

On Sunday, December 11, Our Savior will have its first service at Ford. The administration and teachers have graciously made their new commons and classrooms available while clean-up and rebuilding occurs.

It is uncertain how long OSLC will need the space, as the lobby and worship center are currently undergoing massive clean-up efforts, and will soon begin the rebuilding process. While the ATF and investigators have yet to solve the mystery of the crime, that is not the focus of the church. Our Savior Lutheran is determined to pursue its mission of Loving God, Loving People and Living Like Jesus.

Many in the community have asked how they can help. OSLC has set up an opportunity for people to donate to their “Beauty for Ashes Fund” on their website to cover uninsured expenses. Any gifts received in this fund that go beyond what is needed to rebuild will be invested in the church’s community outreach programs, like Faith in Action and Backpacks 4 Kids.
