Tuesday evening, in the McGavick Center at Clover Park Technical College, Bruce Dammier was sworn in as the next Pierce County Executive. The room was filled with public officials mayors, legislators, former Congressmen, county employees of note and other elected officials. Many local citizens connected to Dammeier and his charitable work with Habitat for Humanity. Dammier left his office as Senator for the 25th Legislative District of Washington State. Formerly, he was elected to the House of Representatives and two terms on the Puyallup School Board.
After being sworn in, Dammeier spoke about bringing family wage jobs in Pierce County and working together as a community to solve problems like mental health care and homelessness. He spoke in the spirit of working with everyone around the county, especially to include the rural areas, to accomplish a strong growing economy and better services for Pierce County.
The presence of former Congressman Norm Dicks was also recognized. Years ago, Rep. Dicks appointed Bruce Dammeier to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
