Each year at the small cemetery near Muck Creek on the Mountain Highway, Bethany Lutheran Church holds a wonderful celebration of Memorial Day. The event is complete  with a Flag and Firing Detail from JBLM and keynote speaker,  Chaplain Art Sortland (Capt, USN, Ret) to honor the day. This well attended event is located in a lovely setting on the Muck plain. The church also provides an delicious potluck after the event.

The Bethany Cemetery is an historic place with many pioneer families interred there. The Muck Creek area also was home to many families who worked for Fort Nisqually and has rich local history with the British, American Indians and pioneer settlers.

The service is on May 29th and will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Church Cemetery, 26418 Mountain Highway (SR7), Spanaway WA, 98387-9404.
