OBITUARY

Charles “Chuck” H. Overaa (1/2/1927-2/16/2018) was born to Lee Roy and Caroline Overaa. He was a life long resident of Spansway, Washington.

He attended Spanaway Grade School and was a graduate of Kapowsin High School in 1944. After driving logging trucks for his father, he entered the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1946 Charles met Marianne (Sue) Schwanz at the Spanaway Lake Dance Pavilion and they were married in 1949.

He worked for B & B glass for several years and then became the first employee of Milgard Glass. It was during this time that he founded Fir Lane Memorial Park. In 1958 he began to devote all his time and effort to Fir Lane.
Chuck and Sue enjoyed traveling by motorcycle with their friends Shirley and Frank Zlock to such places as Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort in the Olympic National Park and shrimping at Dad’s place on Hood Canal.

Charles was a long-time member of the Hoda Dance Club, Parkland Masonic Lodge, Puyallup Elks Lodge, Spanaway Lions Club, and OHOP Grange. He was one of the founding members of the Spanaway Historical Society. The Prairie House Museum was his childhood home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane Aveldson and half-brother Chuck MacLearnsberry. He leaves behind his beloved wife Susie of 69 years, daughters Teri Shelton (Stephen) and Linda Thiel Estby, son Stace Overaa (Colleen), grandchildren Lee Shelton, Julie Impala, and Bryan (Dena) Overaa, great-grandchildren Cannon Impala and Elizabeth Overaa, and many other friends and family.

The Family of Charles Overaa wishes to thank everyone for their kind expressions of sympathy and the many acts of kindness extended to them during their hour of bereavement.

Memorial service is Monday February 26, 2018 at 2:00pm at Fir Lane.
