2020 Graduations on the road in June

2020 graduation at Bethel area high schools may affect traffic in some areas. Although schools have gone to great lengths to direct traffic into parking lots, it still may be best to avoid the areas if you are not participating in the graduation.

Graduation at Challenger High is Monday June 15, 2020. The graduation is from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the line will form on A Street, coming in the back gate and exiting on B Street.

Tuesday, June 16 will be graduations for Bethel, Spanaway Lake and Graham Kapowsin High Schools. All ceremonies are between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The schools are also having photographers posted at each location to take photos of all graduates. Videos will also be made available online after the events. There are also videos being made of the awards ceremonies.

Arrivals at each high school are timed based on last names. Each school has posted a chart of the arrival information and a couple have posted maps for traffic patterns.

All graduation ceremonies are following guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic.

From the district web site, “This will culminate with each graduate walking across an outdoor stage to pick up their diploma.  While remaining in their car, families will be able to capture their senior walking across the stage.  Please consider decorating your car.  Additionally, a professional photographer will take a photo of each graduate in a traditional diploma picture; the district will provide one digital image of each student receiving their diploma.  Families may purchase additional professional photos, if they wish. ”
