PIERCE COUNTY PLANNING AND PUBLIC WORKS — Phase 3 of the state’s “Healthy Washington” reopening plan. We are actively planning for the eventual reopening of our lobby and look forward to welcoming customers who require in-person services back when it is safe to do so. We will keep you updated on the lobby reopening status through email and our website.
While our Development Center lobby is not open for walk-in services, our staff continues to provide permitting functions, application intake and review and some types of inspections.
Increased permitting activity continues
We have processed a record number of applications so far this year and continue to see new submittals coming in above our normal activity. As these applications move on to the review stage, we are using every option available to us to complete them, including overtime, third-party review and prioritizing our reviews.
How you can help
Despite our best efforts, increases in resubmittals are slowing us down. To help us quickly process applications and reviews, please:
- Submit complete applications—Include all documents and forms required on your submittal standards. Tracking and processing incomplete applications slows down the approval process. If you are uncertain that you have everything that you need for a successful first review, please reach out to Ask the Development Center.
- Combine your resubmittals—If more information has been requested for your application, please include everything in a single online resubmittal. This allows us to review and process them more quickly.
- Be patient and understand there may be longer delays in answering phone messages and emails.
If you have a time sensitive resubmittal that requires special attention or have any questions, please contact Kevin Stender, Development Center manager, at email@example.com or Amy Wakefield, Permit and Development Center supervisor, at firstname.lastname@example.org,
We appreciate your patience as we tackle this heavy workload. We are doing our best to minimize delays wherever possible. We expect to see another busy summer of building this year and we know how important timely and reliable reviews are for your projects
