PIERCE COUNTY — Work to resurface 8th Avenue East from 336th Street East to 288th Street East will begin April 11. The project is expected to be complete in mid-May.
The project area is located south of Joint Base Lewis-McChord between 8th Avenue South and State Route 7.
Approximately 200 feet of guardrail will be installed approximately 400 feet south of 288th Street East.
Site preparation work will take place the week of April 11. Resurfacing work is expected to start April 18.
Traffic impacts
Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The two-lane road may be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic.
Puget Paving & Construction Inc. is the project’s contractor. The construction cost is approximately $790,000 and is funded with federal Surface Transportation Program funds and County Road Funds.
