Tiny Village in Residental Resource Zone?

The Pierce County Council is now considering the passage of the zoning change to South Hill, Parkland-Midland-Spanaway, Frederickson, and Mid-County Plan Areas to allow tiny home villages in the Residential Resource Zone. The current issue is whether a tiny home village is appropriate in the water resource are entering Spanaway Lake from the southwest.

There is a meeting in the County Council Community Development Committee, March 6.

2023-5: An Ordinance of the Pierce County Council Allowing for Shared Housing Villages in the Residential Resource Zone of the Frederickson Community Plan Area, Mid-County Community Plan Area, Parkland-Spanaway-Midland Communities Plan Area, and South Hill Community Plan Area of Unincorporated Pierce County by Amending Title 18A of the Pierce County Code, “Development Regulations – Zoning”; Adopting Findings of Fact; and Setting an Effective Date.

The issue will also be on the full Council agenda on March 21 for final approval.

This is major. This change will allow the Spanaway Tiny Home Village in our lake water resource area.
