Changes to application resubmittal upload process begin Dec. 13

PIERCE COUNTY PPW– As part of our commitment to improving the permitting process, Pierce County will implement changes to the online resubmittal procedure starting Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.

What’s changing?

Currently, applicants can resubmit or upload documents at any time in the review process via the orange “I Want To” dropdown menu in the online permits system. This open-ended approach has contributed to confusion, longer wait times, and inconsistent reviews between the review and inspection phases

Starting Dec. 13,

  • Uploads restricted during review: Online options to resubmit or upload revised documents will be disabled until staff members have reviewed the existing application materials and entered a comment asking for additional or revised information.
  • Message for pending reviews: If there is already a resubmittal in the system, it will need to be processed before resubmitting again. Users attempting to upload additional documents while a review is pending will receive an error message.
  • New location for resubmittal upload: The link to submit a resubmittal will move from the “I Want To” dropdown to the “Department Status” section.

What this means for you

  • Consolidated feedback: Applicants will receive a single, comprehensive review letter outlining all comments and corrections.
  • One complete resubmittal: Ensure all requested items are fully addressed in a single submission, as the system will not allow additional uploads while one is already under review.

By submitting thorough, complete applications and responding fully to review comments, you’ll benefit from faster feedback and avoid unnecessary delays.

If you have questions about the updated resubmittal process, please reach out via the Ask the Development Center form at PierceCountyWa.gov/AsktheDC.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to create a smoother, more efficient permitting experience.

This is what your permit dashboard will look like once the changes take effect on Dec. 13.
