Is there a new diet fad in Parkland-Spanaway? Doesn’t it seem like this past year a large number of businesses have turned into used car lots all the way down Pacific Avenue?
Restaurants like Lady Luck, Warthog, the old Taco Time, and the Shady Rest Tavern are now car lots. The Rasmussen Attorney office, the Payless Shoe Store, the Loan Shop, and the Travel Agency have become used car lots also. And, of course, the largest of all, Spanaway Airport is now Copart.
Is it because used cars are so popular? Or maybe they all want to be near the car collectors that hang around the LeMay Marymount collection?
One could imagine there is a darker side. We do have a considerable number of traffic accidents on Pacific Avenue, Canyon Road, and Spanaway Loop Road, which may be feeding the need for more cars to replace them.
It certainly cannot be that we prefer cars to dinners, but maybe dining out is too expensive because we are having to repair our cars so frequently.
Whatever is going on, I did a little car lot count. I think we really have enough at this point. Here are some we have lost and the others that also are everywhere. Take your pick, there certainly are plenty to choose from.

I dont see a problem with someone whos trying to expand their small family owned business !! Car lots are everywhere yes!! People need cars! Also this car lot does alot of OTHER awareness as well!! You guys dont kniw the vision this man has!! Curly is AMAZING!!
Vision? When there are 100 car lots and no restaurants anymore, that isn’t vision. A true community needs to have a diverse base of businesses. Considering the irrational behavior of many local drivers, with music too loud, exhaust that sounds like drive by shootings, complete ignorance of speed limits, and being stuck in overwhelming traffic, cars are not appreciated as much as you might think.
321 auto is not just a used car lot. Curly the owner does more for the community than Payless ever did or even the restaurants. He does tons on non profit stuff. Takes care of the customers after they purchase doesn’t just say sorry bought as is. He finds a way to help.
