July 24 is the promise date from Planning and Public Works for the intersection at 22nd Ave. & 208th St to re-open. It will surely be a relief to many.

This area is not like the more urban communities. A blocked road and detour in any community south of Clover Creek is likely to create detours of 5 miles or more. Crossroads simply don’t exist out there. Developers whose projects create these blockages are not popular with residents.

Since the County dubbed this area part of the Urban Growth Area for state planning purposes, the ness it has created turned a lot of voters against them. It has resulted in innumerous closed roads, blockages, sewer projects and severe mileage increases in the rerouting of neighborhood traffic.

There will be a repaving project for 208th later in the year.

Editor Note: PPW promised that heavy semi-trucks from the new warehouses at 34th & 208th would not travel west on 208th. Let’s call out that lie. There is no way they can make the corner at 208th and 22nd Avenue. It is simply too tight. But this is happening. The trucks are heading west. There were never any signs placed to say otherwise. No weight limit signs were placed on this pony trail covered with oil & gravel. Be sure to point this out if it is promised on another project.
