Each year on the first Tuesday in August is National Night Out. The idea is take a day to get to know your neighbors. Your neighborhood is a safer place if you know who belongs there. This year that day is August 4. It is also the state primary election day. Make sure your ballot is dropped off at a local drop box before you go to NNO.

Events are coordinated by Safe Streets. You can join an existing celebration or organize one of your own. NNO celebrations can be anything you and your neighbors choose to do—a dessert social on the sidewalk, a BBQ at a neighborhood park, or close the whole street down and host a full-on festival. This event is open to the public. National Night Out in Parkland, 12215 Park Avenue South at the Trinity Lutheran Church grassy courtyard, 6pm – 9pm.
